1. DRR-ER COORDINATOR (DEC)

Job Description
Objective of the Job:
To Coordinate the DRR & ER projects and team of Cordia to reduce the risk of disaster in local communities and to prepare for a rapid and effective response to emergencies in accordance with the SPHERE project standards and the values of Cordia.
Overall responsibilities :
• Manage the CMDRR & ER Projects
• Design CMDRR & ER Projects
• Lead and supervise the CMDRR and ER Team
• Responsible for the design of DRR – ER project proposals for Cordia & funding body
• Responsible for submitting interim and final report of projects of DRR – ER
• Responsible for the assessment and appraisal of DRR – ER project proposals

Qualifications
• Degree: S1 in social sciences
• Working experience: min. 2 years in managing development programs
• Demonstrated experience in supervising a team of volunteers or employees
• Demonstrated excellent writing and reporting skills
• Demonstrated understanding of CMDRR & ER in an Indonesian context

2. SOCIAL COORDINATOR (SC)
Objective of the Job: Coordinates Cordia’s Social projects in accordance with Cordia’s Strategic Planning in Drugs, HIV/ AIDS – related issues and Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) to promote social awareness and services.
Specific Duties:
• Develop a Social programme strategy in accordance with Cordia's Strategic Plan.
• Develop Social project proposals.
• Coordinate the activities of the social division
• Set up a team of employees and volunteers to implement Cordia's social projects
• Supervise and provide support to the Social team
• Implement projects or activities for the Social division.
• Monitor and evaluate project and activities.

The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) is implementing a major community-based reconstruction and rehabilitation program with the primary focus on shelter construction project in Aceh Besar, Lamno, Calang and Nias for beneficiaries affected by Tsunami of December 26, 2004 and earthquake of March 28, 2005.
We are also implementing Livelihood, Environmental Health and Disaster Preparedness Management programs to help families and communities to improve their quality of life. We are looking for qualified and committed candidates to fill the following position on a fixed term contract basis.

Communication Officer (Ref Code: CO)
Based in Banda Aceh

Minimum Required Experience and Knowledge:

* Fluent in English, Bahasa Indonesia and Acehnese (reading,
writing/reporting and speaking)

* Experience in language, documentation and communication functions

* Computer skills: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (MS Word and
MS Excel). Experience with Corel, Photo Shop is an asset

* Experience with International NGOs is an asset

* University education in communications, translation or related
experience

Specific Duties:

* Initiate story ideas for the Canadian Red Cross monthly internal
newsletter. Conduct interviews and collect photographs to support said
stories. Translate stories into both English and Indonesian. Work closely
with layout designer to create newsletter

* Help to organize key Canadian Red Cross events, such as house
handover ceremonies

* Oversee the administration of the Communications Unit

* Help to document Canadian Red Cross programs, primarily through
photography. Travel to the field as required

* Facilitate visits for journalists

* Provide written translation of reports, correspondence and other
documents from English to Bahasa Indonesia and vice versa, as required by
delegates and staff.

* Scan local newspapers for articles relevant to Canadian Red Cross
programming and translate into English for delegates. This should be done
bi-weekly or more frequently if required

* Represent the Communications Unit at monthly editorial meeting of
Irish Red Cross etc and report back to unit

* Assist Senior Information Reporting Officer in developing
communication tools (Information, Education and Communication materials) in
print and audio visual media to support Canadian Red Cross programming

* Assist in monitoring community information boards, Canadian Red
Cross logos and signage

* Attend coordination meetings as required with Canadian Red Cross
partners

* Meet language support needs as assigned

General Duties

* Apply the security rules at all times

* Respect and observe the staff regulations of the CRC in Indonesia
* Respect and observe the code of conduct of CRC in Indonesia

Background

ICMC has been active in Indonesia since
1999, and currently works in more than ten of its provinces. Its main focus in Indonesia has
been on psycho-social counseling for people affected by trauma,
counter-trafficking , and reintegration of the victims of social disasters.

Primary
Responsibilities

In partnership with the Indonesian State
Ministry of Women’s Empowerment, the Archdiocesan Human Development Committee
of Kota Kinabalu and Tenaganita, a Malaysian NGO, ICMC is currently
implementing a project funded by the European Community and the Government of
United States of America to combat debt bondage issues and trafficking in
persons between six east Indonesian provinces and the Sabah State of Malaysia.
Some of the major anticipated results of the project are sensitizing officials
on both sides of the border to the rampant trafficking in persons between
Indonesia and Malaysia, strengthening the legal environment, providing greater
protection to survivors of trafficking, the formation of a cross-border
platform to deal with trafficking in persons between the two countries, a
perceptible drop in trafficking in persons between the Indonesian gateway for
migrant workers in East Kalimantan and the official receiving point in Sabah,
and the drafting of a manual describing how to set up a cross-border platform.

The project was launched in December 2007 in Indonesia and in April 2008
in Malaysia.
A recent internal assessment has established the need for the creation of a
dedicated team to build relevant capacities in stakeholders from both Indonesia and Malaysia over a relatively short
period of ten months.

Reporting to the Senior Manager (Safe
Migration) and in coordination with the Deputy Program Manager (Indonesia), the Project Advisor (Malaysia) and
the Senior Desk Officer (Safe Migration) the Capacity Building Manager will be
responsible for:

1. Conducting assessment of training needs of
different groups of stakeholders in keeping with the project requirements;
2. Designing at least three different training modules
on Legal Education for Law Enforcers in Indonesia and Malaysia, Strategic
Planning for Counter-trafficking Action by Local Government, and Trafficking
Awareness for Journalists in Sabah (Malaysia);
3. Developing appropriate capacity building programs
for NGO project partners and ICMC/AHDC/Tenaganit a project staff;
4. Delivering and appropriately evaluating
approximately 60 training workshops;

5. Taking the lead in developing a “How to” program
manual to facilitate future cross-border collaboration; and
6. Developing and delivering other capacity building
programs responding to external requests.

Qualifications

1. University degree; preferably S1 in Social Development or Law major;
2. Relevant managerial experience minimum 3 years;
3. Excellent research/ assessment skills;
4. Excellent skills in designing training modules and delivering training programs to Government officials and NGO staffs;
5. Excellent communication skills;
6. Sensitivity and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural team; and
7. Adaptability and ability to deal with lack of clarity and ambiguity.

The position will call for extensive traveling and will be based in Jakarta / Makassar depending on project need and personal convenience.

This is a senior position within ICMC National staff hierarchy and calls
for relevant professional experience, multi-disciplinary approach and great personal
maturity.

The Peace Scholarship Program for undergraduate students from Indonesia includes:

- AU$2500 (maximum) to cover Student Visa, Overseas Student Health Cover and return airfare expenses (any more than this is the responsibility of the recipient)
- AU$6000 (maximum) to cover living and accommodation expenses whilst in Australia (approximately $300 per week depending on start and finish dates)
- Lifetime networking opportunities with Peace Scholarship recipients from countries all over the world.

Students who meet all the eligibility criteria outlined below and who are studying at accredited universities in Indonesia are invited to apply for the Peace Scholarship to commence study at one of Australia’s universities in July 2009 for six months.


How to Apply

Ensure you fulfil each of the selection criteria as detailed below:



- At the time of application you have completed at least three and no more than six semesters of your first full-time undergraduate degree of an accredited course at a university in Indonesia

- You have achieved a grade point average of 7.5/10 (or equivalent) in your degree to date

- You can fulfil the requirements for English language proficiency – minimum 6.0 IELTS overall and minimum in each category (depending on the requirements of the host university).

- You can preferably gain credit transfer for your study abroad program in Australia for your degree at your home institution

- You do not hold citizenship or permanent residency in Australia and have not previously studied overseas, either in Australia or elsewhere, unless on a scholarship

- You are able to demonstrate a commitment to ‘global peace and understanding’ through community, academic or professional achievements

- You are able to indicate how the experience will further your professional development and help contribute to global peace and understanding

- You are able to demonstrate a financial need and that without this scholarship you would not have the chance to study overseas
