Best Romantic Movie
1. The English Patient [1996]
The film is set during World War II and depicts a critically burned man, at first known only as "the English patient," who is being looked after by Hana (Juliette Binoche), a French-Canadian nurse in an abandoned Italian monastery. The patient is reluctant to disclose any personal information but through a series of flashbacks, viewers are allowed into his past. It is slowly revealed that he is in fact a Hungarian geographer, Count László de Almásy (Ralph Fiennes), who was making a map of the Sahara Desert, and whose affair with a married woman, Katharine Clifton (Kristin Scott Thomas), ultimately brought about his present situation. As the patient remembers more, David Caravaggio (Willem Dafoe), a Canadian intelligence operative and former thief, arrives at the monastery. Caravaggio lost his thumbs while being interrogated by a German army officer, and he gradually reveals that it was the patient's actions that had brought about his torture.
2.50 First Dates (2004)
Lucy Whitmore [Drew Barrymore] is the girl who suffers from memory loss, and Henry [Adam Sandler is] the playboy who falls in love with her.One morning, Henry meets Lucy Whitmore (Barrymore), a local art teacher, in a café. They hit it off and agree to meet the next day, but when Henry returns, Lucy has no memory of him or their previous meeting. Pulling him aside to where Lucy can't hear them, the café owner explains to Henry that, as a result of a car accident a year earlier, Lucy suffers from Goldfield Syndrome, a fictional form of anterograde amnesia in which each day's events disappear from her memory overnight. She innocently believes every day to be the birthday of her father, Marlin (Clark), which happens to be the day of the accident. In order to shield her from the pain of repeatedly learning about the accident, Marlin and Lucy's brother, Doug (Astin), re-enact the activities of Marlin's birthday every day.
3. Titanic [1997]
Love does not always have a happy ending; this movie depicts the tale of love tragedy in the most emotional way. A movie of sacrificing love, this one is a winner when it comes to timeless romantic movies. In 1996, treasure hunter Brock Lovett and his team explore the wreck of the RMS Titanic, searching for a necklace called the Heart of the Ocean. They believe the necklace is in Caledon "Cal" Hockley's safe, which they recover. Instead of the diamond, they find a sketch of a nude woman wearing it, dated April 14, 1912, the night the Titanic hit the iceberg. Rose Dawson Calvert learns of the drawing, contacts Lovett, and tells him that she is the woman depicted. She and her granddaughter Elizabeth "Lizzy" Calvert visit Lovett and his team on his salvage ship. When asked if she knows the whereabouts of the necklace, Rose recalls her memories aboard the Titanic, revealing that she is Rose DeWitt Bukater, a passenger believed to have died in the sinking.
3. P.S I Love You [2007]
Holly and Gerry are a married couple who live on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They are deeply in love, but they fight occasionally. Gerry dies suddenly of a brain tumor and Holly realizes how much he means to her as well as how insignificant their arguments were.
Deeply distraught, Holly withdraws from her family and friends until they descend upon her on her 30th birthday. They are determined to force the young widow to face the future and decide what her next career move should be. As they rally around Holly and help organize her apartment, a cake is delivered, and with it is a message from Gerry. It proves to be the first of several meaningful messages — all ending with "P.S. I Love You" — They are pushing her into the future.
With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly slowly embarks on a journey of rediscovery.Gerry arranged for Holly, Denise, and Sharon to travel to his homeland of Ireland. While there, they meet William, a singer who strongly reminds Holly of her deceased husband and, coincidentally, was his childhood friend. During the vacation, Denise announces she's engaged and Sharon reveals she's pregnant, and the news causes Holly to relapse emotionally and once again withdraw into herself out of sadness.
Holly eventually enrolls in a fashion course and discovers she has a flair for designing women's shoes. A newfound self-confidence allows her to emerge from her solitude and embrace her friends' happiness.
4. The Notebook [2004]
A film about a young girl who is split between her soulmate and a man who society and herself knows she should be with. But will she follow her heart and go back to her childhood sweetheart? Or will she move on and marry the wealthy soldier who simply adores her? A new entrant in the genre of romantic movies, this one captures all the emotions of a loving heart in the perfect way. It defines love and why is it that everyone should have a taste of it. Dipped in love and romance, this one depicts the cycle of young love, lost love, found love and true love.
The Notebook is an all time favorite of everyone who loves romantic movies. This outstanding touching love story will surely become your favorite too…
5. Pretty Woman (1990):
This movie is a classic in the romantic movie genre. The dream pairing of Julia Roberts and Richard Gere creates sheer magic in the mind of audiences. This love story focuses on the intricacies and depth of a relationship.
Originally intended to be a dark drama about prostitution in New York, the film was reconceptualized into a romantic comedy with a broader budget. The film was a critical success and became one of 1990's highest grossing films, and today is one of the most financially successful entries in the romantic comedy genre.
Pretty Woman I am sure you all have seen Pretty Woman at lease once in your life. But even so, you might want to see it again!
6. City of Angels (1998)
This one movie has a universal appeal when it comes to romance. Starring Meg Ryan, in her golden days, and Nicholas Cage, this one is an instant hit with the audience. Full of romance, high on drama, City of Angels is loved and appreciated by couple of all ages.
In Los Angeles, Seth (Nicolas Cage) is one of many Angels who watch over humans and protect them in unseen ways. Seth's main responsibility is to appear to those who are close to death and guide them to the next life. As part of this task, Seth and one of his fellow angels, Cassiel, like to ask people what their favorite thing in life was. do you want to give some special gift for sweetheart? send a message from movie quotes is a good idea. I wanna share some romantic quotes from movies..
City of Angels
"I like to start my notes to you as if we're already in the middle of a conversation. I pretend that we're the oldest and dearest friends- as opposed to what we actually are- people who don't know each other's names and met in a chat room where we both claimed we'd never been before. What will NY152 say today, I wonder. I turn on my computer, I wait impatiently as it boots up. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You've got mail. I hear nothing, not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beat of my own heart. I have mail. From you."
When Harry Met Sally
The Notebook
".....I think I'd miss you even if we'd never met."
"The hardest part of love isn't loving someone, but having the courage to let them love you back."
Don Juan DeMarco
Shakespeare In Love

"I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it."You've Got Mail
"When they ask me what I liked best, I'll say it was you."
- "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
- "I love that you get cold when it's seventy degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes, and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night."
"It's only in the mysterious equations of love that any logical reasons can be found. I am only here tonight because of you. You are all I am. You are all my reasons."Big Fish
"Perhaps it is good to have a beautiful mind, but an even greater gift is to discover a beautiful heart."
"Sometimes, the only way to catch an uncatchable woman is to offer her aCrazy/Beautifulwedding ring."
"You can be anywhere when your life begins. You meet the right person and anything is possible."West Side Story
- "Only you, you're the only thing I'll see forever. In my eyes, in my words and in everything I do."
- "Goodnight, goodnight, sleep well and when you dream, dream of me..."
- "Maria. I just met a girl named Maria, and suddenly that name will never be the same to me. Maria. I just kissed a girl named Maria, and suddenly I've found how wonderful a sound can be. Maria. Say it loud and there's music playing. Say it soft and it's almost like praying. Maria. I'll never stop saying Maria."
- "Make of our hands one hand. Make of our hearts one heart. Make of our vows one last vow. Only death will part us now."
- "I have a love and it's all that I have. Right or wrong, what can I do? I love him, I'm his and everything he is...I am, too. I love him, we're one. There's nothing to be done. Not a thing I can do but hold him, hold him forever. Be with him now, tomorrow, and all my life..."
- Elise's soliloquy:
"The man of my dreams has almost faded now. The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of in the deepest and most secret reaches of her heart. I can almost see him now before me. What would I say to him, if he were really here? Forgive me, I have never known this feeling. I've lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder, then, that I fail to recognize you? You-- who brought it to me for the first time. Is there any way I can tell you how my life has changed? Any way at all to let you know what sweetness you have given me? There is so much to say...I cannot find the words. Except for these-- I love you! Such would I say to him, if he were really here."
The Notebook
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds and that's what you've given me."The Phantom of The Opera
"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me, and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul and to me, this has always been enough."
"Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime. Lead me, save me from my solitude. Say you want me with you, here beside you. Anywhere you go, let me go, too. Love me, that's all I ask of you."Shall We Dance
"Past the point of no return- no going back now. Our passion play has now at last begun. Past all thought of right or wrong. One final question. How long should we two wait, before we're one? When will the blood begin to race? The sleeping bud burst into bloom? When will the flames at last consume us?"Runaway Bride
"Look. I guarantee there'll be tough times. I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us is gonna want to get out of this thing. But, I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you're the only one for me."
"We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet..... I mean, what does any one life mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things..... all of it, all the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness'".Sleepless In Seattle
"The rumba is the vertical expression of a horizontal wish. You have to hold her like the skin on the thigh is your reason for living. Let her go, like your heart's being ripped from your chest. Throw her back, like you're going to have your way with her, right here on the dance floor. And then finish like she's ruined you for life."
"Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you add them all up, they meant that we were supposed to be together.....and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home.....only to no home I'd ever known. I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like.....magic."The Village
"The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe."The Wedding Date
".....I think I'd miss you even if we'd never met."
"The hardest part of love isn't loving someone, but having the courage to let them love you back."
Don Juan DeMarco
- "There are only four questions of value in life. What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made of? What is worth living for? What is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same. Only love."
- "Have you never met a woman who inspires you to love? Until your every sense is filled with her? You inhale her. You taste her. You see your unborn children in her eyes and know that your heart has at last found a home. Your life begins with her, and without her it must surely end."
- "I have crossed oceans of time to find you."
- "The luckiest man in the world is he who finds true love."
- "New lovers are nervous and tender, yet smash everything- for the heart is an organ of fire."
- "Every night I cut out my heart. But in the morning it was full again."
- "Swoon. I'll catch you."
- "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched, but are felt in the heart."
- "A life without love is no life at all"
- Prince Henry:" And what happens if the person you're supposed to be with never appears or she does, and you're too distracted to notice?"
Leonardo da Vinci:"You learn to pay attention."
- Danielle:"A bird may love a fish, signore, but where will they live?"
Leonardo da Vinci:"Then I shall have to make you wings."
- Prince Henry:" You told me it was a matter of life or death."
Leonardo da Vinci:"A woman always is."
- "Dancing is just a conversation between two people. Talk to me."
- "Love has given me wings so I must fly."
- "If I could ask God one thing, it would be to stop the moon. Stop the moon and make this night and your beauty last forever."
- "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."
- "Love? Above all things I believe in love! Love is like oxygen! Love is a many splendored thing, love lifts us up where we belong, all you need is love!"
- "I am just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her."
- "Happiness isn't happiness without a violin-playing goat."
Shakespeare In Love
- "I will have poetry in my life. And adventure. And love. Love above all. No...not the artful postures of love, not playful and poetical games of love for the amusement of an evening. but love that...overthrows life. Unbiddable, ungovernable, like a riot in the heart, and nothing to be done, come ruin or rapture."
- "Love denied blights the soul we owe to God."

Provincial Workshop: Cycle 2 Reviews and Dissemination of Cycle 3
PRIMA-P Education as an improvement program for secondary education which have objectives to develop access, quality and school-based management with community participation. PRIMA-P goals are in line with program Pendidikan Gratis. Pendidikan Gratis, as the South Sulawesi Provincial’s program are not expected to inhibit and decrease community participation. "Community is allowed to participate in voluntary assistance and support the school by donation; we just prohibit money collection for unclear purpose." Reveal Drs. H. A. Patabai Pabokori, Head of Education Department of South Sulawesi province.
This requires an active role and high capability of school principals to differentiate between the tax levied and donations. Tax levied is always bound to time and amount; differ from donation which not bound to time and amount. Time and amount in for donations did not unspecified by the school, it depend to who want to help.
Statement above released by Head of Education Department of South Sulawesi Province when opened JICA PRIMA-P Workshop: 2 Cycle Reviews and Dissemination of PRIMA-P which was held on July 23, 2009, in Hotel Sahid Makassar. Lesson Study Evaluation and Dissemination Workshops*
*i wrote this article as a part of tasks at my previous job. it was published on PRIMA P News November 200 Edition.
Lesson Study evaluation and dissemination workshops were held in July 2009, with participants from both target and non-target (those not selected as pilot targets in the first year of the lesson study) schools and TPK. The purpose of the workshop is to evaluate the Lesson Study activity in the first year (December 2008 – May 2009), and share the experiences with non-target school and TPK. Meetings were held at each Kabupaten (Jeneponto on July 16, Barru on July 21, and Wajo on 25 July, 2009), and there were 30-40 participants at each workshop venue.
JICA Expert Team presented its assessment of the first year of the Lesson Study at the workshop, which is similar to another assessment by the Lesson Study Facilitators from the pilot schools and TPK.
l In Lesson Study, participating teachers should observe not only how the teacher teaches, but also how students react, interact and learn. Suggestions for improvement should come from observation of both. These fundamental ideas of Lesson Study were well acknowledged by the participants.
l “Plan, Do, See” procedure of the Lesson Study is well accepted by the participants.
l Participants’ behaviors are improved very much compared with those at the beginning.
l Though there is some improvement, there still are problematic behaviors of participating teachers, such as talking over mobile phone, chatting with other participating teachers, intervening during open class conducted by demonstrating teachers (when observing the open class), criticizing teachers conducting their demonstration very badly (in the “See” session), etc.
l Observation of the participating teachers tends to be limited only to surface description of students. Observations fail to pick up interaction among students, and between students and teachers.
l Reflecting on above, comments made by participating teachers in the reflection session (“See” session) tend to be descriptions of how students looked like from the outside, but lack in how students interact with one another and understand. Most of them failed to make suggestion for teachers regarding how teacher could prompt for a better interaction among students.
The participants seemed to feel that they have gained something in the first year of Lesson Study, yet they have not been satisfied yet. Rather many of them recognize that continuity is important, according to their comments made in the workshop.
Basic Strategy on Lesson Study for Cycle 3
Intervention in a “Plan” step
In Cycle 2, PRIMA Pendidikan intervened only in “Do” and “See” steps. In this experience of Lesson Study implementation in Cycle 2, it was found that there were already crucial problems when teachers produced lesson plans. Most of teachers did not discuss the teaching contents deeply, but only discussed framework of a lesson: for example, how long group discussion will take, what methods will be used, lecturing, question and answer, or inquiry, etc. Therefore, teachers could not have any deep insight into the contents to be taught or any clear image of students’ learning during the lesson. Therefore, Cycle 3 will give teachers technical advice and support in their “Plan” step, in addition to “Do” and “See” steps.
Provision of indirect support to other schools and MGMP
Since PRIMA Pendidikan started Lesson Study, many schools in the three target districts became interested in Lesson Study and they have continuously requested PRIMA Pendidikan to give technical support and advice. The basic strategy of PRIMA Pendidikan is that the pilot schools and MGMP will be fully developed as a regional model of Lesson Study during the project period, and other schools can learn from those pilot schools and MGMP after the project ends. Therefore, PRIMA Pendidikan will not give direct support to other schools and MGMP in Cycle 3, but it will consider indirect support and cooperation to those schools and MGMP in order to promote future dissemination of Lesson Study to those schools and MGMP smoothly and effectively. Specifically, PRIMA Pendidikan will invite those interested schools and MGMP to the Facilitator Training for Lesson Study, which will be conducted five times in Cycle 3.
